PUBLIC NOTICE - - - NOTICE The Lafayette City Council met in Regular Session on May 19, 2026 and adopted the following ordinances: CITY ORDINANCE NO. CO-033-2026 AN ORDINANCE OF THE LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE FY 25/26 OPERATING BUDGET OF THE LAFAYETTE CITY-PARISH CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT BY INCREASING REVENUES IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,616 RECEIVED FROM THE LOUISIANA COMMISSION ON LAW ENFORCEMENT (LCLE) AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,539 FROM FUND 101 AND APPROPRIATING WITHIN THE LAFAYETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT BE IT ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: WHEREAS, the Lafayette Police Department was awarded a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant from the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (LCLE) and Administration of Criminal Justice in the amount of $28,616; and WHEREAS, there is an additional match in the amount of $9,539 required for the grant award. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: SECTION 1: All of the aforedescribed “WHEREAS” clauses are adopted as part of this ordinance. SECTION 2: The FY 25/26 operating budget of the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government is hereby amended by increasing revenues in the amount of $28,616 received from the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement, authorizing the transfer of matching funds in the amount of $9,539 from Fund 101, and appropriating within the Lafayette Police Department. SECTION 3: The Lafayette City Council hereby authorizes the Lafayette Mayor- President, or her designee, to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned project. SECTION 4: The Lafayette Mayor-President, or her designee, is hereby authorized to amend the operating budget within the grant period by transferring any unexpended appropriated balances into or out of salaries and benefits line items and all other expense line items in order to expend the total award amount in accordance with the regulations. SECTION 5: This increase in revenues shall be as reflected in any pertinent documents which are attached hereto and made a part hereof and filed in the Office of the Clerk of the Council. SECTION 6: All ordinances or resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 7: This ordinance shall become effective upon signature of the Lafayette Mayor-President, the elapse of ten (10) days after receipt by the Lafayette Mayor-President without signature or veto, or upon an override of a veto, whichever occurs first. * * * * * CITY ORDINANCE NO. CO-034-2026 AN ORDINANCE OF THE LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE FY 25/26 OPERATING BUDGET OF THE LAFAYETTE CITY-PARISH CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT BY INCREASING REVENUES IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,843 RECEIVED FROM THE LOUISIANA COMMISSION ON LAW ENFORCEMENT (LCLE) AND APPROPRIATING WITHIN THE LAFAYETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT BE IT ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: WHEREAS, the Lafayette Police Department was awarded a Bryne JAG grant from the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (LCLE) and Administration of Criminal Justice in the amount of $25,843; and WHEREAS, these funds will be used by the Lafayette Police Department in targeting computer and high-tech crime. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: SECTION 1: All of the aforedescribed “WHEREAS” clauses are adopted as part of this ordinance. SECTION 2: The FY 25/26 operating budget of the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government is hereby amended by increasing revenues in the amount of $25,843 received from the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement, and appropriating within the Lafayette Police Department. CO-035-2026 AN ORDINANCE OF THE LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL DECLARING THE JOHNSTON ST./LA. AVE. INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS, SEGMENT III (RAILROAD TO LEWIS STREET) PROJECT A PUBLIC NECESSITY AND AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY RIGHTS-OF-WAY, IMMOVABLE PROPERTY AND OTHER PROPERTY RIGHTS REQUISITE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID PROJECT, EITHER ON AN AMICABLE BASIS OR THROUGH THE PROPER USE OF THE EXPROPRIATION PROCESS IF NECESSARY BE IT ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: WHEREAS, the Lafayette City Council has declared the Johnston St./LA. Ave. Infrastructure Improvements, Segment III (Railroad to Lewis Street) Project (hereinafter referred to as “Project”) a public necessity; and WHEREAS, the public purpose to be served by the construction of said Project is to provide infrastructure improvements including, but not limited to roadway, drainage, utility, and sidewalk improvements within the Project limits for public safety; and WHEREAS, the Project limits of the Project are shown on the attached Exhibit “A” between the points “A-B” and include the roadway, drainage, utility, and sidewalk improvements within said area as well as the neighboring areas or associated areas necessary to tie into the subsurface drainage systems and utility systems; and WHEREAS, engineering work has progressed to a point wherein it is determined that certain tracts of land or portions thereof will be required for construction of the Project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: SECTION 1: All of the aforedescribed “Whereas” clauses are adopted as part of this ordinance. SECTION 2: The Lafayette Mayor-President is hereby authorized to acquire such land, immovable property, rights-of-way, servitudes, or other property rights as are determined to be necessary under good engineering standards to provide for the construction of said Project; and she is authorized to do so on an amicable basis or by the proper use of the power of expropriation granted to municipalities under applicable State law. In acquiring said land, immovable property, rights-of-way, servitudes, or other property rights, she is authorized to acquire said land, immovable property, rights-of-way, servitudes, or other property rights and to settle the matters thus presented on such terms and conditions as she shall deem proper and in the best interest of the Lafayette City-Parish Consolidated Government. SECTION 3: All ordinances or resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall become effective upon signature of the Lafayette Mayor-President, the elapse of ten (10) days after receipt by the Lafayette Mayor-President without signature or veto, or upon an override of a veto, whichever occurs first. * * * * * CITY ORDINANCE NO. CO-036-2026 AN ORDINANCE OF THE LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE LAFAYETTE MAYOR-PRESIDENT TO EXECUTE AN ACT OF CASH SALE BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE AND G&M PARTNERSHIP FOR THE PRICE AND SUM OF $280,000 FOR THE ACQUISITION BY THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE OF THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY, WITH IMPROVEMENTS AND APPURTENANT SERVITUDES AND PROPERTY RIGHTS, HAVING A MUNICIPAL ADDRESS OF 113 E. SIMCOE STREET, LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA, FOR THE PRESENT PURPOSE OF IMPROVEMENT AND EXPANSION OF THE UTILITIES DEPARTMENT AND FOR OTHER PRESENT OR FUTURE PERMISSIBLE PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council that: WHEREAS, the Lafayette City Council deems the purchase of that certain property, with improvements and appurtenant servitudes and property rights, having a municipal address of 113 E. Simcoe Street, Lafayette, Louisiana, more fully identified in the legal description attached hereto as Exhibit A (the “Property”), to be necessary, convenient, and/or desirable for the present purpose of improvement and expansion of the Utilities Department and for such other present or future purposes as are permissible under applicable law; and WHEREAS, the current owner of the Property, G&M Partnership, desires to sell, and the City of Lafayette desires to purchase, the Property for the price and sum of $280,000, which price and sum is the appraised value of the Property; and WHEREAS, the parties have entered into an Agreement to Purchase and Sell providing for the conveyance of the Property by act of cash sale free and clear of liens, mortgages, and encumbrances except those of record; and WHEREAS, the Lafayette City Council therefore desires to authorize the Lafayette Mayor-President to execute an Act of Cash Sale to acquire the Property at the price and sum of $280,000 for the reasons stated hereinabove. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Lafayette City Council, that: SECTION 1: All of the aforedescribed “Whereas” clauses are adopted as part of this ordinance. SECTION 2: The Lafayette Mayor-President is hereby authorized to execute an Act of Cash Sale for the purchase of the Property for the price and sum of $280,000 and to conduct all negotiations and enter into and sign any and all contracts and other documents necessary, incidental, convenient, or desirable to provide for the purchase of the Property. SECTION 3: The Lafayette Mayor-President, or her designee, is hereby further authorized to take any and all actions and to execute any and all documents which are, in the judgment of the Lafayette Mayor-President, in consultation with the City-Parish Attorney or his designee, necessary, convenient, or desirable to purchase the Property and to carry out the purposes of this ordinance, specifically including, but not limited to, any and all customary documents ancillary to a purchase and sale of real property. SECTION 4: All ordinances or resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
