PUBLIC NOTICE - - - ORDINANCE 2026-09 CITY OF ZACHARY PARISH OF EAST BATON ROUGE STATE OF LOUISIANA ORDINANCE TO FIX THE ANNUAL PROPERTY MILLAGE RATE FOR 2026 AND TO ESTABLISH THE RATE OF TAXATION AND LEVY A TAX IN THE AMOUNT OF 5.070 MILLS TO DEFRAY EXPENSES OF OPERATION OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT FOR ALL GENERAL PURPOSES FOR THE YEAR 2026 ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF ZACHARY AND TO PROVIDE THE COLLECTION OF THE SAME AND FOR OTHER MATTERS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH WHEREAS the City of Zachary is required to re-establish on an annual basis the prevailing Ad Valorem Property Tax Millage Rate for the City of Zachary for each upcoming year, WHEREAS the City Council for the City of Zachary collected an Ad Valorem Property Tax Millage Rate for 2025 in the amount of 5.070 mills for the purpose of raising revenue for the City of Zachary to defray expenses of operation of the city government for all general purposes, WHEREAS the City Council for the City of Zachary has made the determination to fix and to establish the prevailing Ad Valorem Property Tax Millage Rate to the Adjusted Maximum Millage Rate at 5.070 mils for the City of Zachary for the year of 2026, for the purpose of raising revenue for the City of Zachary to defray expenses of operation of the city government for all general purposes to wit: BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Zachary, that by affirmative vote of the City Council, that the Adjusted Millage Rate in the amount of 5.070 mills be and is hereby levied upon the dollar of the assessed valuation of all property subject to ad valorem taxation within said City and Parish for the year 2026, for the purpose of raising revenue for the City of Zachary to defray expenses of operation of the city government for all general purposes, and BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Assessor of the Parish of East Baton Rouge shall extend upon the assessment roll for the year 2026 the taxes herein levied, and the tax collector of said Parish shall collect and remit the same to said taxing authority in accordance with the law. This Ordinance shall become effective at the expiration of the publication by the City Council for the City of Zachary all pursuant to § 2-10 (C) of the Home Rule Charter adopted by the electors for the City of Zachary.
