PUBLIC NOTICE - - - MINUTES Town of Slaughter Regular Meeting May 19, 2026 I. CALL TO ORDER—The meeting was called to order by Mayor Janis Landry, who opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m., May 19, 2026, at the Slaughter Town Hall, 3337 Church Street, Slaughter, Louisiana. A quorum was present and due notice was given. Unless otherwise noted all motions passed by unanimous decision of the Board. II. Invocation III. Pledge IV. Roll Call - The following members were present: Craig Soileau, Nyki Paxton, Lynn Landry, Adele Fleming, Galen Vaccaro, Howard Henderson and Matt Ard. V. AMENDMENTS AND/OR ADDITIONS TO AGENDA: A. Katie Boone discussion on snowball stand. Motion by Nyki Paxton, Second by Lynn Landry, Motion passed. Add as item G B. Take item G out of order. Motion by Nyki Paxton, Second by Adele Fleming, Motion passed. VI. MINUTES: April 16, 2026. Motion by Lynn Landry, Second by Craig Soileau, Motion passed. VII. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS: A. Maintenance Report- Motion by Nyki Paxton, Second by Lynn Landry, Motion passed. B. Fire Report- Motion by Craig Soileau, Second by Lynn Landry, Motion passed. C. Police Report- Motion by Nyki Paxton, Second by Adele Fleming, Motion passed. D. Paid Invoice Report- Motion by Motion Adele Fleming, Second by Lynn Landry, Motion passed. VIII. PLANNING AND ZONING: A. Becky McKey or Pat Barthe, 611 East Ave. Slaughter. Approval to build an 18’x34’ RV cover. Property is zoned R-1. No electricity or water is needed. Motion contingent on moving cover over 3 ft. to meet setback of 10 ft. from property line. Motion by Craig Soileau, Second by Nyki Paxton, Motion passed. B. Walter Johnston and / or Stormy Spiess, 2676 Rush St. Slaughter. Show cause why commission should not recommend to the Board of Alderman the penalties, sanctions, and/or revocation of granted variance be imposed due to noncompliance. Picture evidence provided by Stormy Spiess shows skirting being applied the morning of 5/12/26 and demo of old trailer in progress. Will give and additional 30 days to get skirting put on new mobile home and old mobile home dismantled and removed from the property. They will need to give an update on progress at the next P&Z meeting on 6/9/26. Motion by Adele Fleming, Second by Craig Soileau, Motion passed. IX. NEW BUSINESS: A. Ditch cutting discussion B.
