PUBLIC NOTICE - - - PUBLIC NOTICE LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY (LDEQ) CECOS INTERNATIONAL, INC. - CALCASIEU FACILITY PETITION FOR NO ALTERNATIVES TO LAND DISPOSAL OF PROHIBITED WASTE BY DEEP WELL INJECTION The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), Waste Permits Division, is proposing to approve a Petition for No Alternatives to Land Disposal of Prohibited Waste by Deep Well Injection Submitted by CECOS International, Inc., 918 Willow Springs Road, Sulphur, LA 70663 for the Calcasieu Facility. The facility is located at 918 Willow Springs Road in Sulphur, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The proposed approval of the petition is based upon the review and determination that there are no economically reasonable and environmentally sound alternatives to disposal of prohibited hazardous waste into injection wells pursuant to LAC 33:V.2273.C. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has issued a final determination to CECOS International, Inc. for an exemption to allow land disposal of prohibited waste by deep well injection (existing Waste Disposal Well No. 1) in accordance with 40 CFR Part 148, Subpart C. The Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy (C&E) has issued a final order for the operation of one (1) Class 1 underground injection wells (existing Waste Disposal Well No. 1) for the disposal of prohibited hazardous waste. A final decision to approve or deny the petition for no alternatives to land disposal of prohibited waste by deep well injection will be made after the close of the 45-day comment period (LAC 33:V.2243) which ends at 4:30 pm CST, Monday, January 5, 2026. Comments and requests for a public hearing or notification of the final decision can be submitted online on the public notice webpage (http://www.deq.louisiana.gov/public-notices), via personal delivery, U.S. mail, or email. Comments and requests for a public hearing must be received by 4:30 pm CST, Monday, January 5, 2026. Delivery may be made to the drop-box at 602 N. 5th St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
