PUBLIC NOTICE - - - NOTICE the La. Dept. of Conservation and Energy, Office of Permitting and Compliance (OPC) has received the following application(s) for a Coastal Use Permit (CUP) in accordance with the State and Local Coastal Resources Management Act of 1978, as amended, (La. R.S. 49:214.21-214.41), and the rules and regulations of the Coastal Resources Program. Applications for the proposed work may be inspected at 617 North 3rd Street, Room 1078, Baton Rouge, LA or on the OPC web page at: http://dnr.louisiana.gov/index.cfm?md=pagebuilder&tmp=home&pid=591. Copies may be obtained upon payment of cost of copying. Written comments, including suggestions for modifications or objections to the proposed work and stating the reasons thereof, are being solicited from the public. Comments must be received within 25 days of the date of publication of this notice. Comments should be uploaded to our electronic record, but may be mailed or emailed to the designated OPC Reviewer. Any person may request, in writing, within the comment period specified in this notice, that a State or Federal public hearing be held to consider this application. Approx. 170 CY of native material will be excavated and hauled offsite. Description: Proposed construction of ±84,375 linear feet of V-shaped earthen terraces in shallow open water in order to establish approximately 96.85 acres of marsh habitat. Project will require dredging of one or both sides of terraces, as needed, for construction with each borrow area having a max. width of 60' and max. depth of 8'. A total of 371,250 cubic yards of native material will be excavated to construct terraces to an elevation of 2.5' NAVD 88. Following construction, terraces will be planted with smooth cordgrass plugs spaced on 3' centers on each slope above mean low water level.
