VILLAGE OF NORWOOD
MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN
REGULAR SESSION
August 13, 2026
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen met in regular session at the Norwood Town Hall on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Becky Bellue presiding. Aldermen Ronnie Jett, Trey Poole and Kimmi Sellers were present.
All motions carried unanimously unless otherwise noted.
A motion was made by Ald. Sellers and was seconded by Ald. Poole approving the minutes of the previous meeting.
A motion was made by Ald. Poole and was seconded by Ald. Sellers approving the financial statement for July, as well as payment of the new bills.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Police Report – Chief Kenny Stewart gave the report. Engineers from DOTD came today to organize some counts for traffic signage for the railroad.
2. Fire Report – Fire Chief Jimmy Garig was unavailable at meeting time.
3. Maintenance Report – The maintenance crew has been cutting grass and working on erosion issues. Mayor Bellue said that there's a section of Morning Glory that needs to be ditched and cleaned out. The broken asphalt needs to be cleaned out and limestone needs to be added. Ald. Jett wants to have an engineer come up and survey the issue to fix this permanently. Mayor Bellue also said that an alleyway on Oak St. needs to be cleaned up and she's going to get prices for this. Mike Tumey said that Thompson Creek Road needs more patching.
4. Clerk's Report – Jennie Jelks attended the LMA Convention in Monroe and learned that we now have to do more training.
5. Police Fine Ordinance – There was a public hearing held at 6:30 p.m. for the Police Fine Ordinance. A motion was made by Ald. Sellers and was seconded by Ald. Poole. Alderman Jett voted no. This motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Town Clerk Salary Ordinance – A motion was made by Ald Sellers and was seconded by Ald. Poole to introduce an ordinance. Ald. Jett voted no. This motion passed.
2. Police Chief Salary Ordinance – A motion was made by Ald. Sellers and was seconded by Ald. Poole to introduce this ordinance. Ald. Jett voted no. This motion passed.
There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made by Ald. Sellers and seconded by Ald. Poole.
